Q: Hi, Tiny Tree Books! Thanks for joining #SeasonsOfKidLit for our Annual Trick-or-Treat Event! We’re thrilled to have you and hear all about your books that are perfect reads for fall and spooky season.

We have readers from all over the globe (which is so exciting!). Can you share where you’re located and your mission statement with our readers?

A: Hi there! Tiny Tree Books is split between Luton in Bedfordshire and Stockport in Greater Manchester. We like to make wonderful books for all ages, all with something to say.

Tiny Tree has spent almost a decade working with exciting new authors and illustrators to build a brand that focuses on producing wonderful books with something to say. Beginning with a wide range of picture books for young readers, our list has expanded over the years to include exciting and engaging titles for all age groups.
We love working collaboratively with all of our contributors to make sure that their vision is brought to life in the best way possible. Our approach to our authors and our readers has created a wonderful family atmosphere that keeps people coming back to support us in creating more.

Q: You have so many adorable fall titles on your list - something we celebrate widely here at #SeasonsOfKidLit! What books would you recommend to those who are looking for fall or spooky-themed picture books this October?

A: Hector’s Halloween would be our picture book pick! It’s the story of a little dog called Hector whose family disappears on Halloween night. This brave little pup sets out to find them, braving all sorts of spooky sights on the way.

Q: How about for the older crowd who love to read chapter books & novels?

A. For early readers, Grimogen Darkstar: Bat-Cat-tastrophe is a super fun one. It’s all about a little Grim Reaper named Grimogen (or Immi). She prefers magical animals to doom and gloom, but her chances of getting a pet are scuppered after a chaotic day at the rescue centre.

For older children, we’d recommend Hallie and the Broken Ghost. It’s a fun and lighthearted adventure about a young girl’s encounter with a (friendly) ghost and how the two help eachother along the way.

Thanks so much for sharing these with our readers!

Q: What’s your favorite part about being in the business and why?

A: My favourite part of publishing is working with all of the super creative, and incredibly talented authors and illustrators. Seeing how passionate they are about their work and collaborating with them to make their book the best it can be is brilliant.

Q: When you are open for submissions, what kind of books are you drawn to most? Do you have any open submission windows inspiring authors/illustrators should be on the lookout for?

A: Our submissions are currently closed, but we’re hoping to open them again soon. We’re open to everything, no matter the age range or genre. We publish picture books right through to YA. Keep an eye out on our social media channels (@TinyTreeBooks) for updates.

We definitely will! Readers, for those interested in submitting to Tiny Tree Books in the future, see their submission guidelines here.

BONUS: What’s both your favorite and least favorite candy? I.e. what would you be thrilled to receive in your candy bag, and what would you desperately try to trade?

I love gummy sweets. Sour Patch Kids might be my favourite. Controversially, I really like Candy Corn too — but I can’t get that very often!

Would you like to leave a Trick or a Treat for our readers?

I'd like to leave a Trick! Familiarise yourself with the types of stories from the publishers you want to submit to. That way, you can see if your manuscript is a good fit. Success leaves clues after all!

We love this trick! Thanks again for joining us and sharing more about Tiny Tree Books, Anthony. It was a pleasure connecting with you!

Readers, please leave a note below to thank Anthony & Tiny Tree Books for stopping by!

*Special Reminder: Those who like, leave a comment on, and share all posts will be entered into a drawing and be eligible to win:

Winners will be drawn and announced on or about 10/22.
