Hi, parents, librarians, book fanatics, writers, and readers of all sorts! It's your co-ghostesses Heather-ween Macht and Gob-Lynne Marie here with some fall-tastic fun coming your way soon.

#SeasonsOfKidLit’s annual Trick-or-Treat event starts October 1st, and this year we’re celebrating 13 days of autumn magic!

Looking for a chillingly good read? Hoping to dust the cobwebs off your WIP, send out a submission to an agent, or even pitch a manuscript to an editor? No matter where you are in your reading and/or publishing journey, we’ve got treats for you!

But not just any treats – we’re excited to announce that we have some of our BIGGEST treats ever including a seasonal pitch event where you can pitch your MS to an editor and an agent skip-the-slush opportunity open to ANYONE who joins us this season. Holy Moly!

We'll even offer extra-special treats like a critique from Rate Your Story or a chance to win a query critique from Lynnette Novak with The Seymour Agency for anyone who likes, comments, and shares all posts on social media.

Want to know more? Take a peek at the calendar of events — there’s plenty of fang-tastic fun and terror-iffic treats waiting just around the corner! 🎃📚🦇

October 1st - 13th: It's time to Trick or Treat!

Get ready to Trick or Treat with #Kidlit Authors, Illustrators, Agents, Editors/Publishers, of books that feature fabulous fall themes!

What is #SeasonsOfKidLit's Trick-or-Treat event?

If you’re new here, welcome. Trick or Treat is our flagship event, where we’ll share book recommendations and creative tips through interviews with wonderful authors, illustrators, agents, editors, and publishers. And the best part? Each post will wrap up with a Trick-or-Treat surprise to make the season extra special. 🎃✨

What's a Trick and what's a Treat?

Trick - a trick is a #KidLit tip or tidbit for the readers (i.e., it could be a look at how our guest edits or formats a MS, query tips, illustration tips, a neat fact or deleted scene from our guest's book, etc.).

Treat - a treat is any treat our guest would like to offer (i.e., it could be a critique of a MS, query letter critique, copy of our guest's book or book merch, a skip-the-slush-pile pass, etc.).
